A brief history of May 2

Sort of. May 2 is my wedding anniversary, and I thought I’d share the general weather reports for the past 5 years of anniversary trips and events.

May 2, 1998: My wedding day. It drizzled all morning, and cleared up (about 3 hours before the ceremony) to be cloudy for the event itself. We honeymooned in Jamaica. It periodically rained, but who notices when there’s 15 minutes of rain in a tropical paradise?

May 2, 1999: We went to Sedona, Arizona, with a stop over at the Grand Canyon, where it snowed (we were not equipped for snow). And rained, of course.

End of March, 2000: We went to Paris, France, during my Spring Break, a few weeks early. Where it rained. All week long. Again: who cares when you’re in Paris?

May, 2001: We went out to dinner, and John’s car broke down on the way there, which meant we got a late start and had to eat at the only nice restaurant open after 9 PM: Peachwood’s, even though we’d eaten there for Valentine’s Day. It was at the end of the semester for me at grad school, and I know I was busy with grading papers and writing them. We did go to Vegas that Fall, though, over Labor Day weekend.

May, 2002: A few weeks after our anniversary, we went on a rafting trip with some friends to Cache Canyon. It did not rain– it was blazing hot all weekend. We did, however, get soaked.

May 2, 2003: We went camping in Mendocino National Forest. Where it rained. All weekend. Finally cleared up while we were driving home.
