Three people in my life have indicated that they have a sense of impending disaster– like, soon. Something bad. They can’t necessarily put their fingers on it (one person attaches it to the economy, another to violence), but they feel something bad is coming. And in a big-picture kind of bad, not a small, personal-tragedy kind of bad.
Personally, I have a sense of something bad coming, but it’s far too rational (i.e., I have too many good reasons to believe in the Bad Things Coming) to be one of those precog hunches.
Anyone want to share their undefinable senses of impending disaster? Speak up now if you have such a sense and feel like bringing it to light– sometimes that can really help to place those things out as spoken/written things, rather than these ominous bad feelings just before the storm.
I’m all alone tomorrow night while John goes out throw a bachelor party for a friend.
So…. what’s a gal to do on a Saturday night all by herself?
John and I were talking about cars this morning. I want my next car to be a Prius. Every time I see one, I say “Ooooo” and it’s getting to be quite hazardous as I ignore all other traffic to get a second look. I’ve never felt this way about a car before….
The nearest competitor is a Honda, either the Civic-Hybrid or the Insight. The Insight is a 2-door, which is an absolute “No Way” in my book. I hate 2-door cars. The fuel cell cars won’t be available for a while yet, I understand– if at all, with the way industry tries to rape our emissions laws. The Civic-Hybrid looks…. just like a Civic. I don’t catch myself drooling when I see one drive by, you know. Also…. any car where the dealer site has a “Gold Exhaust Finisher” option….. I’m just not into that culture, sorry.
Of course, there’s a $2000 deduction for the first year the car goes into use, in addition to reducing my gas costs by 1/2 (yes– I get 20 miles/gallon now, and the Prius gets 41-52 miles/gallon).
Toyota just recently announced the 2004 Prius, which is re-engineered and has a slightly more high-tech engine. When John and I were talking about it this morning, he said I should wait for the 2004 to come out (not that I have a choice about it). So I went to the website to look at it. This is what I emailed to John:
The 2004 Prius is a f-ing hatchback. Ick– I’d rather have the 2003, thanks, despite the engine upgrade in the 2004, it’s still a hatchback. If I want a hatchback that can get 50 miles to the gallon, I’ll get a Geo Metro for
Now the only thing I’m dilemma’ing over is whether to go with the powder blue, because it’s all feminine, the more vibrant blue, or the dark green (which is a nice color for a car, and is similar to the color of John’s car).
