Geocaching at Lunch
11-Apr-03
Oh, yes. I am addicted. Indeed.
I went to a couple of cache sites this afternoon on my lunch hour, both in the same natural preserve area. The first was La Luna. The instructions for this cache say it’s 40′ off-trail. Well, you pretty much have to break your own trail to get to it, and breaking trail means trammelling some native plants that are part of the local habitat restoration projects. That was less than fun, but I did get out and I tried to avoid trammelling too much.
I took a rubber snake and left a slinky. There were a ton of things in the cache; I didn’t see either travel bug that was listed as being there, though.
The second one was Ulistac, which is the name of the natural park where these caches are located. I actually didn’t go to the cache itself, as I spotted a fellow geocacher who was crouched down, apparently at the cache site. Sigh. I decided to leave him be and come back next week (hopefully after I’ve forgotten where I saw him) to find/log the cache.
It was a very nice little walk through this nature area– big meadows, a nice little trail. Quite pleasant, and a perfect experience for lunch-time caching!
