More Games

I have to post my superbowl prediction before the game starts, or it doesn’t count.

Raiders over the Buccaneers, by 30 points.

Wow!

Okay, so the game went pretty well last night.

I need to keep the NPC a little quieter about strategy, but they’re learning already, so it will be okay. It’s taken a while, but they’re getting the hang of what’s considered smart strategy.

Still having to kind of reign in Kemen a bit. Her instinct is still to “run away” whenever there’s a combat. Worse, when running away means everyone dies because she’s the only one who has any hit points left.

They had a pretty awesome battle with a dozen orcs. It was so cool. When it was over, Fred () was down for the count (she’s starting to learn not to be in front of the door when it opens), but stabilized so she wasn’t losing more hit points. Aloysious and Orva (the ranger and the paladin) were both down to one hit point. Brother Egil still had mot of his hit points, but had lost several strength points due to poison earlier in the game– which made him a very poor fighting choice. And besides, he was doing smart stuff like stabilizing patients and bringing Aloysius and Orva up to that one hit point each.

Basically, Kemen had to step in and be a front-line fighter at that point, because they were all going to die if she didn’t. And so, we managed to convince her to step up to the plate. With her holding them off, and Aloysious firing slingshots into the second rank of attackers, the party managed to defeat ten orcs.

Did I mention that last week, Kemen killed one orc weapons master all on her own? Yeah– this is someone who has an over-inflated sense of fear.

They then went and holed up for two days, healing. Fred had a strange healing experience. Brother Egil exhausted his spells to heal everyone (he soooo needs to level– or they need to get healing potions– or both!)

After that, they came out of hiding and headed into the living space of Omar, the apparent lord of the stronghold.

Torture chamber (ewww!), prison (with prisoners asking to be killed), two living quarters, complete with mistress, and books! Yes, Brother Egil has a real weakness in books.

And then– the library. They’d listened at the door and knew there was someone in there, turning pages. They burst through the door and find a man, reading. Omar!

The battle ensues, but is short and final for poor Omar, who never even got a spell off (hey, sometimes that’s the way it goes!)

We ended there– they have not looted the room or the body yet.
