Sigh.

Well, my best friend called last night to tell me, tearfully, that her mom doesn’t have much longer now, and the service could be as early as next weekend.

My heart goes out to her and her brother, her father, and her husband, who has been a real steady support for her during this whole thing. My sympathies are with her uncle and her aunt, who are both in town right now, saying their good-byes, and her grandmother, who is also in town, saying goodbye to the second daughter she will have lost to cancer.

Usually, I’m pretty upbeat about life in general, but today, I’m realizing that that’s because life hasn’t shit on me in any major ways for over a decade. Today, I’m feeling that life is pretty fucking unfair.

Hey, since I’m going to be in town on Thursday and Friday, do you want to get together and go have some lunch or something? I’ll have a rental car, so we’ll be mobile (I don’t know if you drive or not…).

I’ll be away from email and such probably while I’m out of town, so if you want to reach me, um, call your sister’s place, since I’m planning on staying there, I suppose.
