I want to thank all my wonderful friends for coming to my party last night, and for the really great gifts that they thoughtfully brought.
[Note: my friends are not "little" people, but are in fact some of the greatest people on earth.]
I feel I should note that my friends did not need to bring anything except their warm friendship, but these are still rockin’ gifties:
Pradeep and Jeanette– Thanks for Everwinter Nights! Woo hoo!! A new addiction to play with during my unpaid vacation!!!
Ken — Thanks for a wacky weird and totally fun game!
Chris and Ann — The Petco g.c. is perfect– just the right size and color!!!
If you don’t object to me not spoiling my other birthday present too much with it, I might buy myself a goldfish for my desk at work– I seem to need something living and “pet like” nearby me when I’m working– helps my creativity or something. Even with all the GAS, Hammer has always been welcome in my office when I’m writing.
Carl — The candle holder is really spiffy. I think it’s going to go in the Living Room next to the Jamaica stuff, because it fits in with those a little better than with the BA stuff. But I’ll try it in both locales and see where it wants to be most.
Roberta and Sharon — The toys are great. I can’t decide if I want to take them to work to play or not (we’re not a really big “toys on the desk” company).
Karen (John’s mom) — Thanks for the Bookshop Santa Cruz g.c.: How did you know! ![]()
John — Thanks again for my puppydog! He’s the greytest!
Mom — See you next weekend! What a great present (plane tix, for anyone reading this).
Well, I’m off to work now! Gotta get in there before they’re out of their meeting! ![]()
Well, this morning was fun. We went for mochas (it’s an every-day thing now), then I had my hair appt. at 10 AM. I brought my bike with me in the car, and went for a ride after the appt., so I wouldn’t have to bike uphill. That was fun. I went alone, which was good. John initially planned to go with me, but in retrospect, I think I needed the solitude.
It was a short ride anyway. On the way back, however, I made a wonderful discovery. The park near my house has a dog park! A fenced-in place to run a dog! YAY!!!
We have a fenced backyard, but nothing beats being able to go off-leash for a full-on sprint for a greyhound. Also, dog park means dogs, even though there weren’t any in evidence today, on a Sunday morning at about 11:15 AM. Nonetheless, it’s an encouraging sign. Hammer needs to socialize more. We had a doggy guest recently, and he got a little bit agressive–not a lot, but a little. It surprised me, but I guess he’s not used to being around dogs who show their dominance (at all).
